Organization Values Assessment

Home Values Assessment Organization Values Assessment

The Values Assessment (VA) is a survey conducted among employees that provides insight into what your colleagues value as individuals, what they experience in the current organizational culture, and what they think is necessary to achieve all objectives and ambitions. We also measure cultural entropy.

Entropy is energy lost in organizations, unused work potential. We customize the survey for you, and it is also possible to add open-ended questions.

The Values Assessment explained in more detail

The culture of an organization is the result of the vision, attitude, and behavior of current leaders and those of their predecessors. Attitude and behavior are determined by underlying personal values. The degree to which the personal values of all employees match the current and desired cultural values determines the extent to which a mission, vision, and strategy are embraced. It also says something about the way in which employees collaborate to achieve objectives and fulfill promises, both internally and with external partners and stakeholders. A Values Assessment (CVA) measures and makes visible what is hidden and intangible in many organizations: culture. The VA also provides insight into the development perspective by discovering the Ambition Value that transcends work and core values. We bring these to life with visuals and language in a strategic communication concept. This imagery makes the perspective visible, concrete, and directive for employees.

A strong connection is made based on the meaning that work has for employees and society. The principle is simple and effective. Employees indicate their values in the VA. This creates a powerful connection between what employees consider important and what the organization's ambition is. From the benchmarks of the Barrett Values Centre (BVC), we know that engagement, output, and revenue of an organization increase as entropy decreases. That is why we say that working with us yields more than it costs.

How is a Values Assessment conducted?

The VA is a powerful and relatively simple measurement tool that provides insight into both personal values and the current culture of the organization, as well as the desired values in the future organizational culture. We set up an online survey in the systems of the Barrett Values Centre. All employees receive a personal link and can then complete the survey online. This can be done in Dutch or other languages.

The survey takes between 10 and 15 minutes to complete. The VA consists of three 'tasks':

  1. Personal values:
Choose 10 values/behaviors that best represent what you consider important
  2. Current cultural values:
Choose 10 of the following values/behaviors that best represent what you currently experience in your organization.
  3. Desired cultural values:
Choose 10 of the following values/behaviors that, in your opinion, are essential for the (new) organization to achieve its ambitions.

The 10 values are always chosen from a customized list of about 100 values, concepts, and behaviors. We can add values that you would like to measure to discover whether they are experienced and embraced! Specific value sets have been developed for certain branches and entities. Results are processed anonymously by the Barrett Values Centre. We are happy to tell you all about it so that we can determine the right setup together.

The Values Assessment yields several benefits.

The results describe the values that characterize the current culture, the diverse values that currently exist within the organization, and the values that employees would like to see in the future. Additional graphs show the transformation potential and the current cultural health of various components. Various cross-sections are possible.
